Forty years of land consolidations in Wallonia

For forty years, a third of the farming area has been regrouped in Wallonia. The paper draws the development of land consolidation and underlines the increase of non agricultural aims, especially environment concerns. So land consolidations with stark productivity concerns in the sixties changed to a new way of land consolidation respectful of the inherited balances and concerned with the functional diversification of the rural areas. However the distribution of land consolidation projects still shows stark productivity concerns : land consolidation projects remain first in ploughed land areas with large farming.Depuis 40 ans, le tiers de l'espace agricole a été remembré en Wallonie. L'article retrace l'évolution du remembrement en Région Wallonne et souligne la multiplication des buts non agricoles et en particulier la volonté de prendre en compte les composantes environnementales. C'est ainsi que les préoccupations avant tout productivistes des années soixante ont fait place à un remembrement plus respectueux des équilibres hérités et soucieux de la diversification des fonctions de l'espace rural. Cependant l'analyse de la distribution des projets de remembrements témoigne toujours d'un esprit productiviste : ceux-ci demeurent d'abord dans les zones de labours où siègent de grandes exploitations agricoles.Etat de l'environnement wallo
