The Codex of Nikétas (Laurentianus pluteus graecus 74, 7, IXex./Xin.), which contains a collection of sixteen classic papers of surgery covering a period of more thousand years, from Hippocrates (Vex./IVin. BC) to Paulus Aegineta (A.D. VII) is exceptional by its age, presentation, conception, magnificent illustration and history.
