Abstract

Mai Nguyen lived in Saigon, Vietnam until she was 15 years old. Four days before the fall of Saigon, her family fled to a refugee camp in Guam with very few possessions. She stayed here for two weeks in tents with her parents and 6 brothers and sisters. From there, they were transferred to a camp in Arkansas where they stayed for four months before a group of sponsors brought them to Atlanta, Georgia. She attended high school in Atlanta and, eventually, attended Georgia Institute of Technology for Chemical and Mechanical Engineering.
