Magistrsko delo se osredotoča na numerične simulacije GaAs-AlGaAs nanožic z jedrom in lupino (angl. "GaAs-AlGaAs core-shell nanowires") na silicijevih valovodih (angl. "silicon waveguides"). Takšne strukture so obetavne v kontekstu optičnih povezav znotraj čipov. Z uporabo več simulacijskih orodij preučimo različne lastnosti obravnavanih struktur, začenši s študijo optičnih rodov, ki se širijo znotraj valovoda, ki ga tvori nanožica. Visoka odbojnost koncev nanožice je pomemben parameter pri znižanju praga laserskega delovanja. Odbojnost lahko povišamo iz 40% na 90% z dodatkom kovinskega zrcala. Z asimetrično postavitvijo nanožice, znotraj katere se širi krožno polariziran val, na vrh silicijevega valovoda lahko dosežemo usmerjeno sklapljan...
