By comparing 16S rDNA cloning and 454 pyrosequencing in the Nephrops norvegicus midgut, several common bacterial OTUs were detected. However, when only one method is to be selected, it needs to be considered whether the revealing of rare OTUs or their accurate phylogenetic relationships is mostly preferred. (c) 2013 Elsevier Ltd.
