The paper presents the findings of a qualitative research that took place in Greece, concerning the status of female teachers in leadership positions and especially of women school counsillors. It focuses on gender issues having implications on how women perceive their professional role, what strategies use in order to survive in a male-dominated leadership position and also what barriers they experience in their professional development. © Common Ground, Anastasia Anastasaki, Anastasia Pamouktsoglou, Xenia Stathatou
