After restating the typology and evolution of Ostia LIX and XXIII amphorae, between the second half of the 1st century and the beginning of the 3rd century (I), we propose a re-reading of three groups of tituli picti (VIR, STR et MOL) appearing on Ostia LIX amphorae from Pompeii, which seem to indicate canned olives at different stages of maturity (II). Petrographical analyses allow us to exclude a Sicilian provenience from the city of Tauromenium, traditional interpretation of the fourth group of tituli picti (TAVR), while they do not exclude an African origin, in particular in the region of the Northern Tunisian tell (III).
