In this overview, the results of studies in France were given on the genetic variability in resistance to helminth parasites in Romonov and Merino d'Arles sheep and Saanen and Alpine goats. The paper focusses on diversity of helminth parasites, innate vs acquired resistance, criteria for genetic selection for resistance, specificity of resistance, and bi-directional selection in Romanov sheep
