The GenARDIS Fund

A Small Grants Fund in the field of gender and information and communication technologies (ICTs) has been launched by CTA, the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the International Institute for Communication and Development (IICD). Known as GenARDIS (Gender, Agriculture and Rural Development in the Information Society), it will make awards for innovative, gender-sensitive activities that will contribute to the understanding and application of ICTs for agricultural and rural development in ACP countries. For the purposes of GenARDIS, the term ICTs encompasses a multitude of equipment and services, ranging from satellite communication systems, telephone booths in rural areas, digital radio programmes, the Internet and electronic databases to e-commerce services via the World Wide Web. The first competitive call for applications for non-renewable grants of up to Euro 5,000 requires applications to be submitted by 15 April 2003. Successful applicants will be announced in June 2003.
