IFDC (the International Fertilizer Development Centre) has recently set up its African regional centre in Togo near the Togo Phosphates Bureau. Together with other national, regional, and international bodies. This organization directs research on fertilizer technology, in order to create simple procedures for treating and solubilizing phosphates. The two other major research areas of IFDC are the optimal use of fertilizers by farmers and the study of the socio-economic factors which govern their use . The centre also offers training programmes in production, marketing, and use of fertilizers. It will also soon be setting up a bibliographical database on the problem of fertilizers in tropical Africa. For more details,contact...
