Superacid-Mediated Intramolecular Cyclization/Condensation: Facile One-Pot Synthesis of Spirotetracyclic Indanones and ­Indenes

A facile, superacid-promoted, domino, one-pot synthesis of novel spirotetracyclic indanones through intramolecular Friedel-Crafts acylation/alkylation of alpha, beta-unsaturated cinnamic acid esters is presented.
