This paper discusses the extension of the one-dimensional alternating notch-periodogram algorithm (ANPA) to the detection of two-dimensional frequencies, based on a single snapshot data model. The 2-D ANPA algorithm uses the EDC (efficient detection criterion) criterion [1], and the 2-D version of a frequency spectrum called notch periodogram [2], and provides the combined estimation of the number of signals and the 2-D frequencies of signals
