Folktale from England to Toraja

After analyzing the data and comes up into\ud conclusion that understanding folktales are important\ud in establishing social and cultural unity while also\ud uniting humanity under universally accepted norms\ud of truth, peace, democracy, equality, and beauty. The\ud folktales of Binnorie and Datukalindidi??? sola\ud Pudu???balingkare had shown it. Two folktales from\ud different countries, cultures, and languages have\ud similarities in their actanctial structure and functional\ud form. Both of the stories convey Sir William in\ud Binnorie and the Young man in Datukalindidi??? sola\ud Pudukbalingkare are standing in the same position in\ud actanctial structure as subject. Moreover, these\ud stories shows the readers that both of these culture\ud show that there always jealousy in relationship. The\ud person who does cheating will be given punishment\ud by the society.Every country has its own folktale which is\ud very significant in linking past generation to the\ud present. This research aimed to answer several\ud different opinions that have been developed about\ud the similarities between well known folktale and\ud local folktale. The researcher had picked up English\ud folktale and Torajanese folktale to outline the form of\ud actantial structure and functional model in these\ud folktales. The researcher used Greimas structural\ud narratology approach and descriptive method. This\ud research is a descriptive qualitative research. In the \ud analysis, the actant structure and functional model in\ud these folktales had been analyzed through the actions\ud of the characters in the story to figure out the\ud similarity of English and Torajanese folktales. The\ud research results showed that there are similarities\ud between two folktales which are from different\ud cultural and geographical background in\ud particularly in plot, character, and event. Therefore,\ud it proves that folktales from across the globe bring\ud universal values, particularly the moral aspects
