The main objective of this research is focused on the study and the development of an electromagnetic process of continuous casting of billets of small diameters. The first two chapters are devoted to the presentation of principle, sizing and quantification of performance of two electromagnetic devices called "Electromagnetic Nozzle" and "Electromagnetic Die" providing both the desired confinement of a liquid metal vein of small diameter.Going through these applied studies emerges the need to deepen some more fundamental aspects concerning the mechanisms of action of alternating magnetic fields on liquid metals.
