The present work provides, from a simulation of a mercury furnace, some experimental data able to highlight the influence of parameters, frequencies and intensities of inducting currents, mean flow and turbulence generated by electromagnetic stirring. These measurements showed that the confinement effect of the driving forces was responsible for a high inhomogeneity of the turbulence characteristics in the vicinity of the walls in the case of small electromagnetic skin depth and that the existence of a maximum mixing.
