The objective of this work was to improve the understanding of the physical phenomena involved in rotating cylindrical electrode electrostatic separators. The studies focused on the mechanisms of charge of the particles and the factors that influence the trajectories of the particles in the electric field of these installations. An original method based on the numerical analysis of the electric field is proposed for the calculation of the charge acquired in ionized field by insulating particles of various shapes and dimensions placed on or near an electrode.
