Totality In Architecture. Reflections on aesthetics and the coexistence of things with the place producing in us an experience of totality

Este artículo surge como una continuación de dos investigaciones, en primer lugar de la tesis doctoral que lleva por título: «Lugar / No-Lugar / Lugar en la Arquitectura Contemporánea» 2011, ETSAM; y la investigación FAU, financiada por la Escuela de Arquitectura de la Universidad de Chile: «Del No-Lugar al Lugar en la didáctica del proyecto arquitectónico», realizada por un equipo multidisciplinar entre los años 2012-2013.Today it is a revolution to talk about totality, —we refer to this concept as the quality of the total, the integrally thing— in such a fragmented world. Where are the teachings of Vitruvius of considering many things: the sky, the landscape, the stars... and today: our cities, its inhabitants, their context...? In this article, we revise diverse authors from different academic fields who dialogue through time. That is to say, we follow a sequence related with their ideas instead of their chronology. This allows dialectics about the importance of reflection in architectural projects through the object in itself to open thr discussion about considerations from other relevant aspects in order to continue thinking, and planning architecture with the purpose of generating a place and an experience of totality for its inhabitants.Hoy en día es una revolución hablar de totalidad, —nos referiremos con este concepto a la cualidad de total, de cosa íntegra—, en un mundo tan fragmentado. ¿Dónde quedaron las enseñanzas de Vitrubio de considerar tantas cosas: el firmamento, el paisaje, las estrellas… y hoy: nuestras ciudades, sus habitantes, el contexto…? En este artículo se revisarán distintos autores procedentes de diferentes ámbitos del conocimiento que dialogan a través del tiempo, es decir, se sigue un orden en función de sus ideas, más que cronológico, que permitan una dialéctica sobre la importancia de la reflexión en los proyectos arquitectónicos más allá del objeto en sí mismo, para abrir la discusión sobre la consideración de otros aspectos relevantes que conduzcan a seguir pensando, proyectando la arquitectura con la finalidad de aspirar a generar un lugar y una experiencia de totalidad para sus habitantes
