The work described in this paper is a development iteration in an existing project where a three wheeled personal mobility assistance vehicle aimed at the elderly is developed. It was carried out during the spring and summer of 2016 in collaboration with Toyo University in Tokyo, Japan. This paper describes the next design iteration with a threefold purpose; to build better foundations to allow for more of the development to be made in a simulated environment by creating a model; investigate the feasibility of implementing rear wheel steering to the existing design; and to develop a more advanced Steer-by-wire system than what is in use today.
