U pacientů, kteří mají v důsledku aterosklerózy zúžené koronární tepny, se jako častý způsob léčby provádí perkutánní koronární intervence s implantací stentu. Při tom však dochází k poškození cévní stěny, rozvíjí se zánětlivá reakce, což může vést ke komplikacím.
