This paper presents a novel scheme for the detection and isolation of faults affecting the sensors measuring the satellite attitude, body angular velocity and flywheel spin rates as well as defects related to the control torques provided by satellite momentum wheels. Thanks to the jointly use of the singular perturbations theory and nonlinear geometric approach, a novel fault detection and isolation system has been developed to accurately detect and isolate faults occurring on all the considered actuators and sensors. Simulation results are based on a detailed nonlinear satellite model with embedded disturbance description. The results document the effectiveness of the proposed fault detection and isolation scheme
