Ice is an hexagonal material in which deformation mainly occurs by dislocation glide along the basal plane conferring a strong viscoplastic anisotropy to the single crystal. Hence, during polycrystalline ice deformation the incompatibility between grains lead to highly heterogeneous strain. During ice creep at high temperature, dynamic recrystallisation occurs, leading to the development of a new microstructure and strong recrystallisation textures.These new microstructure and texture increase the ductility of the material.
