The space and the sky are popular motifs in the poetry. Although both words denote the same space, there are significant differences of the perspective (relation to the Earth/earth) and poetic connotations. Wojciech Ligęza doesn’t separate them, he only sees the historical change of the context: religious, connected to the myths and divination, and modern, scientific perspective. The article shows the similarities and the differences between the space and the sky, their distinctive attributes and how they are described, used and reworked by Szymborska
