Ricerca e disegno dei territori: dalle criticità ambientali alla cura dei luoghi

To date human societies are facing with a great deal of urgent issues affecting the quality of living spaces. This lead to the irreversible loss of the main support underpinning the basic eco-systems, surrendering to the arrogance of hybris, the ungovernable force of individualism which does not hesitate to offend the natural order of resources, deemed to be endless, and to take a hazardous cornucopian view of the world. It follows that it is almost a vital necessity to be aware of the events that affect the environmental backgrounds of our daily existences. In this context territorial sciences, whether it is environment related or humanities, must be involved in more and more responsible tasks aiming at a better governance of the space we live in. Through such awareness, it is easy to realize that something has broken in the mechanisms of place production, causing numerous problems by disrupting reassuring points of geographic reference for large sectors of the population, erasing their existential ties with both the places they live in and their cultural and affective roots. It follows that academic geographers have to reinforce their theoretical framework, definitely interacting with psychology, literature and oral history in order to reveal the personality of places and ecological identities
