This research seeks to characterize the concept of time-pressure and its effects on information processing and buying behavior. A review of the interdisciplinary literature makes clear, according to the most frequently employed cognitive approach, three principal effects of time-pressure: the accelerated rhythm of information processing, the selection of their number, and the change of the adopted decision-making strategy. An exploratory qualitative study enriches the concept thanks to three metaphors, characterizing three different modes of consumer response to the time constraint, and highlighting its non-cognitive consequences. The union of this metaphoric approach with the models proposed in the published literature relative to persuasi...
