The number of reality programsmake the audience more tergiring oriented view to instant popularity. but the views are understood asbeing a passive audience and always agreed with television has changed the view of understanding theaudience as a highly active. The position of the audience is no longer as weak in interpreting realityshow. But the audience has a stronger position in interpreting television. The position is not just only thedominant audience by television programs but also can position negotied or even opposition position.Audience in this research tends to be negotied position. It is highly influenced by idealism and educationallevel of informants involved. Negotied position demonstrates the importance of the audience in thebackground to interpret and make sense of television media exposure.Keywords: reception, Popularity, Reality ShowABSTRAKReality show menjadi salah satu cara untuk mendapatkan popularitas melalui televisi. Jumlah programreality membuat penonton lebih tergiring pandangannya berorientasi pada popularitas instan. tapi pandangantersebut dipahami oleh penonton secara pasif dan selalu tertuju pada televisi. Televisi telah mengubahpandangan dan pemahaman penonton menjadi sangat aktif. Posisi penonton tidak lagi lemah dalammenafsirkan reality show. Tapi penonton memiliki posisi yang lebih kuat dalam menafsirkan televisi. Tidakhanya penonton yang mendominasi pada program televisi tetapi juga dapat posisi negosiasi atau bahkanoposisi. Penonton dalam penelitian ini cenderung negosiasi posisi. Hal ini sangat dipengaruhi oleh idealismedan tingkat pendidikan informan yang terlibat.
