Comparison of heat stress response in cotton (gossypium spp.) genotypes in Diyarbakır conditions

Küresel iklim değişikliğinin sonucunda son yüzyıl içinde ortalama sıcaklığın Dünya genelinde 1,5 ile 5,9 °C, 2100 yılına kadar ise ortalama 1-3,5 °C derecelik bir sıcaklık artışı tahmin edilmektedir. Küresel iklim değişikliğinden olumsuz etkilenecek ülkeler arasında Türkiye de yer almaktadır. Ülkemizde pamuk üretiminin yaklaşık %78’nin yapıldığı Ege ve Güneydoğu Anadolu bölgeleri küresel iklim değişikliğinin neden olacağı yüksek sıcaklıklardan en fazla etkilenecek bölgelerdir. Yüksek sıcaklık stresi pamuk bitkisinde tarak, çiçek ve koza silkmesine yol açarak verimde önemli kayıplara neden olmaktadır. Bu nedenle bu çalışma; farklı ülkelerden sağlanan 200 adet pamuk genotipinin sıcaklık stresine karşı tepkilerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Araştırma GAP Uluslararası Tarımsal Araştırma ve Eğitim Merkezi deneme alanlarında 2016 yılında tarla koşullarında, augmented deneme deseninde 4 blok şeklinde yürütülmüş, denemede 5 adet standart çeşit (Gloria, SG 125, Flash, Özbek 105 ve Candia) kontrol olarak kullanılmıştır. Araştırmadan elde edilen veriler birlikte değerlendirildiğinde; Deltapine 41, Africa E5 (20025), Campu, NIAB 111, NIAB 777, B557, FH 142, Haridost, Malmal-MHN-786, MNH786, MNH 814, NIAB-KIRN, Sadori, Sohn, VH 260 genotiplerinin sıcaklık stresine tolerant olduğu gözlenmiştir. Seçilen pamuk genotiplerinin sıcaklık stresine tolerant pamuk çeşidi geliştirmek amacıyla yürütülecek pamuk ıslah çalışmalarında ebeveyn olarak kullanılabileceği sonucuna varılmıştır.The average temperature in the last century has increased by 1.5-5.9 ° C throughout the World due to global climate change. The Aegean and Southeastern Anatolia regions, where about 78% of cotton production has been produced in our country, will be most affected by the high temperatures caused by the global climate change. High temperature stress causes significant loss of productivity by causing square, flower and boll shedding in cotton plant. Therefore, this study was carried out to determine the response of 200 cotton genotypes provided from different countries to temperature stress. The research was carried out in the field of experimental GAP International Agricultural Research and Training Center in field in 2016 in the form of 4 blocks according to the augmented trial design and 5 standard varieties (Gloria, SG 125, Flash, Uzbek 105 and Candia). The data obtained from this study are evaluated together; Deltapine 41, Africa E5 (20025), Campu, NIAB 111, NIAB 777, B557, FH 142, Haridost, Malmal-MHN-786, MNH786, MNH 814, NIAB-KIRN, Sadori, Sohn and VH 260 genotypes were selected to be tolerant to temperature stress. These results show that the selected cotton genotypes would be used as parent in cotton breeding studies to develop tolerant cotton varieties to temperature stress
