Retinoic acid receptors, RARα, β and γ are ligand-dependent transcription factors that control the expression of specific genes. However, growing evidence indicates that RARs also have extranuclear and non transcriptional effects. During my thesis, I observed that (1) fibroblasts invalidated for all RARs depict a disrupted actin cytoskeleton and have lost their adhesion properties (2) RARα interacts through its N-terminal proline rich motif with profilin2a (PFN2a) a critical regulator of actin filaments elongation.
