Feedback from experience : An argument for collective ethnography. This paper is a reflexive analysis of the author's trajectory (and probably those of a share of sociologists of his generation) to understand how he paradoxically ended up doing collective ethnography. Starting from a scientific socialization informed by sociological ethnography and socio-history, the practice of field research, and research in general, was conceived of and taught as an individual act. There was no positive model for collective research available. But in fact, the teaching of ethnography during field school training leads toward collective ethnography.
