Feedback from experience : An argument for collective ethnography. This paper is a reflexive analysis of the author's trajectory (and probably those of a share of sociologists of his generation) to understand how he paradoxically ended up doing collective ethnography. Starting from a scientific socialization informed by sociological ethnography and socio-history, the practice of field research, and research in general, was conceived of and taught as an individual act. There was no positive model for collective research available. But in fact, the teaching of ethnography during field school training leads toward collective ethnography. By trying to systematize the benefits of these experiences, this text revisits three collective studies to evaluate the gains of each, mainly in the field, as well as the difficulties encountered in sharing data and the trials of publication. An archival method is then proposed to work around a general reticence toward sharing data.Ce texte se veut une analyse réflexive de la trajectoire de l'auteur, et au-delà de lui sans doute d'un segment de sa génération de sociologues, pour expliquer comment il en est paradoxalement venu à l'ethnographie collective. La pratique de l'enquête de terrain et plus généralement de la recherche, a été pensée et enseignée comme un geste individuel. Pour nous, formés à l'ethnographie sociologique et à la socio-histoire, il n'y avait pas de modèle positif d'enquête collective à disposition. Or de fait, à l'occasion de stages de terrain, l'enseignement de l'ethnographie conduit vers l'ethnographie collective. Le texte revient sur trois enquêtes collectives pour en tirer les leçons et mesurer les gains de chacune d'elle, principalement sur le terrain, et sur les difficultés occasionnées par la mutualisation des données et l'épreuve de la publication. Une méthode d'archivage est alors proposée pour contourner les réticences suscitées par la mise en commun des données
