International audienceSince around thirty years, the film movies saw their sound track filling out, complicating, densifying. During this evolution, the sound atmospheres became a central element in the same way as were already the voices, the noises and the musics. The objective of this article consists in formalizing the reflections and the current results about the approach which aims at qualifying and at indexing these sounds in an on-line database. The reflections led here are mainly interested to highlight the complexity of this approach and the necessary consideration of the professionals interested in this sound library, professional practices and contexts in which these sounds are then looked for.Depuis une trentaine d'années, les films cinématographiques ont vu leur bande sonore s'étoffer, se complexifier, se densifier. Au cours de cette évolution, les ambiances sonores sont devenues un élément central au même titre que l'étaient déjà les voix, les bruits et les musiques. L'objectif de cet article consiste à formaliser les réflexions et les résultats en cours au sujet de la démarche qui vise à qualifier et indexer ces sons d'ambiance dans une base de données consultable en ligne. Les réflexions menées ici s'intéressent principalement à mettre en évidence la complexité de cette démarche et la nécessaire prise en compte des professionnels intéressés par cette sonothèque, des pratiques professionnelles et des contextes dans lesquels ces sons sont ensuite recherchés
