After having briefly recall the history of the magyaro-romanian relations and outlines the historiographical arguments about the role of various major ethnic groups in the center eastern european space, we will focus on the issue of the legitimacy of the hungarian ethnic group on transylvanian space on summarizing the partisan arguments of different historians. After this necessary work of historical recontextualization, we will discuss the recent political events that took place in Hungary since 2010 with the return to power of Viktor Orban. We will show that the political party elected named Fidesz reactivates occasionally speech around the theme of Greater Hungary and irredentist issues.
