This paper is devoted to a meta-model based approach to UML systems modelling and simulation. The approach allows creating a system model by operating with artefacts from the problem domain, followed by generation of a UML model. The discussed approach is illustrated by generating UML models, using Use Case and Activity diagrams of the UML language. As a novelty for UML modelling, especially for simulation purposes, the presented meta-model is enriched by a set of stochastic attributes of modelled activities. Such stochastic attributes are usable for further implementation of DEVS simulators
