The “Aurania” was built in 1895 by the Chicago Ship Building Co. of Chicago, Illinois. First enrollment was issued at Cleveland, Ohio, and she was owned by John Corrigan, et. al., also of Cleveland, until 1904. While under their ownership, she was converted by the Detroit Dry Dock Co. from a steel barge to a propeller vessel in 1899. Ownership transferred to Aurania Transit Co. (John Corrigan, Mgr.) in 1904. On April 29, 1909, she sprang a leak while breaking through ice on Whitefish Bay, Lake Superior, and sunk. Final enrollment was surrendered on May 7, 1909 in Cleveland, Ohio
