Recently, a method of pattern synthesis for leaky-wave antennas (LWAs) using global optimization has been proposed by the authors. This technique utilizes a lossy transmission-line model for nonuniform continuous-source LWAs, and it was shown that taking into account reflections along the line provides a significant accuracy improvement compared to the traditional formula. In this paper, further application on arbitrary pattern synthesis will be investigated with an example of optimization under a specific pattern mask for a Half-Mode Substrate-Integrated Waveguide LWA.
