The use of structural glass has increased lately, due to the higher demands for transparency in modern architecture. Therefore, the role of glass changes from a mere transparent function (used in windows only) to a function in which the glass is contributing to the bearing structure as well. Because of the fragile nature of glass, it is important to understand its behaviour.
