Due to the liberalization of the electricity sector and the introduction of regulatory agencies to ensure service reliability, while at the same time controlling costs, distribution system operators (DSOs) are increasingly focusing on the concept of asset management. Asset management involves decision-making for investments where a balance between cost, performance and risk of the system needs to be found. Decisions within asset management are often risk-driven.
