The Dutch Marine grounds are located in the very city centre of Amsterdam on the Marine Terrein, all 14 hectares of the area have been forbidden to access for a very long time until now. The Dutch Marine is leaving the area in stages because of budget cuts from 2015 till 2018. The terrain is badly connected to the centre; all the utility buildings are of low quality and the area doesn't have any attractive public functions. In order to develop the area a public park will be added with eateries below, all positioned above a harbour. The building will be constructed from wood because it is a sustainable material which relates well to the vision of the area.
