Being Jewish and remaining Jewish is a matter of great importance and discussion within American Judaism. This concern has been a topic of debate (although certainly not the only one) since Jews started immigrating to the United States more than three hundred years ago. This research explores how local Jewish presence, which refers to whether there are many or few people sharing a religion living nearby, affects whether an individual feels like an outsider because they are Jewish and Jewish identity salience.
