En este artículo se realiza una evaluación económica y social del empleo del bagazo de caña en la generación de energía eléctrica en Nicaragua; comparándose el uso de este material con el de los combustibles fósiles utilizados para el mismo fin. Se concluye que la generación de energía eléctrica empleando biomasa del bagazo de caña tiene un impacto positivo en el bienestar social y el desarrollo económico del país, dado que en la evaluación económica los ingenios que producen energía eléctrica a partir de bagazo de caña resultan ser económicamente rentables. Por otro lado, las plantas térmicas que generan energía eléctrica a través de derivados del petróleo no son rentables económicamente. La evaluación social del empleo del bagazo de caña ...
