In chapter 1, the reasons for establishing this thesis are described. Despite a number of studies, the natural history of idiopathic scoliosis and the risk of curve progression remain unknown. Knowledge of factors that infuence the prognosis in idiopathic scoliosis is essential in evaluating these patients with scoliosis and in planning an adequate and rational treatment program. ...
