In dit proefschrift wordt een onderzoek beschreven aan de volgende ijzerverbindingen: Magnetiet (Fe3O4), Ilmeniet (FeTiO3), Lanthaan-orthoferriet (LaFeO3) en Chalcopyriet (CuFeS2). In het inleidende hoofdstuk wordt uiteengezet dat in ijzerverbindingen het karakter van de buitenste 3d electronen kan variëren van gelocaliseerd tot itinerant. Verder dient men voor een goede beschrijving van de electronische structuur ook electron correlatie-effecten en electron-fonon wisselwerkingen in beschouwing te nemen. ... Zie: Samenvatting.
