In this thesis a method is descnibed which has been developed fo:r the dynanic measurement of organ blood flow (penfusion) using the 81Rb/81mKr ratio. This method employs the unique physical properties of the shont-lived nadioactive tracer r:ubidiurn-81. Distinct fnom conventional tracens applied in nuclean medicine, the decay pnoduct of 81Rb i" radioactive as well: krypton-81n. Both tracêns are in ''radioactive equilibrium'' because of the short half-life of the daughten a 1 n Kr (13 seconds), companed to the half-life of the parent 81Rb (4.6 hours). tracens applied in nuclean medicine, the decay pnoduct of 81Rb i" radioactive as well: krypton-81n.
