Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is an inherently insensetive tumor to many types of treatment. In early stages of disease it is treated by surgery. When sugery is not possible, radiation is the standard treatment for locally inoperable NSCLC. In recent years combination treatments of radiation chemotherapy have been used to improve survival in locally inoperable NSCLC.
