Diagnostic skill is one of the most important factors underlying efficient operator behavior. This study deals with the following questions related to diagnostic skill: - How can diagnostic skill in process operation be characterized? - Which types of system knowledge play a role in diagnosis, and what is the relationship between system knowledge and problem solving strategies? - What differences can be found between expert and novice operators with respect tot diagnostic skill? This last question is taken as part of the more general question how diagnostic skill develops. ... Zie: Summary
