This report presents the findings of a study of ethnic community perceptions of the Austin Independent School District conducted by faculty and students in the LBJ School of Public Affairs during 1999-2000. The project, funded by the Lyndon Baines Johnson Foundation, the LBJ School, and the City of Austin, examined citizens' assessments of the quality of public education, ethnic tensions in the schools, and the equality of resource distribution among these schools. Based on survey research and community interviews, the project also studied the variation in the perceptions of AISD among different ethnic communities.Public Affair
