During the 1986-87 academic year, the Local Economic Development Policy Research Project studied various strategic approaches that state and local governments can adopt to promote economic development. The ability of governments to adopt such strategies is significantly affected by intergovernmental revenue transfers and by other financial conditions of local and state goverments. Consequently, a number of financial issues were addressed as well. The project was funded by the Lyndon Baines Johnson Foundation.Public Affair
