Abstract

scissorsVOCABULARY. "Do you have _a scissors?_" [ie. some scissors, a pair of scissors] [Question asked by Peter Neary and addressed to Mrs. Jean Halley in the DNE centre, Floor 2. Arts/Admin building. M.U.N. The question was repreated by the speaker in exactly the same form, showing that it was [reverse] not an accidental usage. When I commented on it, he said he had said "Do you have _the_ scissors?" but this was not the case, especially as he didn't know if any scissors were there or not so would not have used the determiner _the_ on this occasion.some scissors, a pair of scissorsNot usedNot usedWithdrawnNFLD FOLKLORE SURVEY Reverse of card at S_2219
