Baccalieu Skiffs

baccalieu nBaccalieu Island is situated three miles off the point of land which separates Trinity Bay and Conception Bay...The majority of fishermen of Winterton however landed their fish on the island, salted it, and brought home their catch in small schooners every 2-3 weeks. These small schooners were called "Baccalieu Skiffs" and were approximately 30 tons...."There were several skiffs of this size owned by Winterton fishermen.
