The 1998 edition of the GRI baseline projection continues to describe a low-price energy world in which gas is not only able to compete but expands its share of U.S. energy consumption. Critical to the achievement of this outlook is significant success in the development and utilization of new gas technologies: end-use technologies that improve the efficiency of gas use and allow gas to enter new markets: supply technologies that increase the gas yield per unit of effort: and gas operations technologies that enhance the efficiency of serving markets by better using both pipeline and storage capacity.
