The most advanced gas-engine-driven heat pump(GHP) developed for the market in the United States is the York/Briggs and Stratton 10.6kW(3 RT) GHP.Field tests of this unit, described here, play an important role in the goal of the Gas Research Institute(GRI) of making gas-fuelled heat pumps commercially available. The tests conducted were designed to evaluate a number of factors, including indoor comfort, energy efficiency, and energy consumption.Testing was performed during 1990-91 and included both heating and cooling seasons at residential sites thr oughout the United States. Results confirmed that the GHP maintains comfortable conditions in single-family residences with low energy consumption
