The aim of this research is to indentify promising paths towards use of renewable hydrogen as an energy carrier. We have considered several renewable hydrogen sources which could be developed over the next decade or so including electrolytic hydrogen from solar PV, solar thermal, wind, and hydropower, and hydrogen from biomass gasification: various options for storing and transmitting hydrogen: and several potentially important end-uses. The results of the study are summarized, and future research directions are suggested.
